Legislation

The 1997 Code of Practice states:

“An employer shall provide or ensure there are provided such equipment and facilities as are adequate and appropriate in the circumsstances for enabling first aid to be rendered to employees if they are injured or become ill at work”

The onus is very much on the employer to decide on the level of cover provided in tandem with the nature of work involved.

In general "First Aid Stations” situated in different work areas stocked with sterile dressings and eye wash (where appropriate) will be sufficient.
